Michael Kanz

Michael Kanz ist 1975 im damaligen West-Berlin geboren und aufwachsen. Musik war und ist schon immer ein wichtiger Wegbegleiter. Er gehört zu der Gruppe seiner Generation, die an den Plattenspieler seiner Eltern durfte, um seine Hörspiele zu hören. So lag es nahe, dass er auch Papas Platten auflegte und schon mit vier Jahren zu The Beatles, Led Zepplin, Stevie Wonder, Elvis Presley, David Bowie, Pink Floyd u.v.a. durchs Wohnzimmer hüpfte.

Seine Jugend war musikalisch geprägt durch die Charts und zahlreicher Independent - Künstler. Im Laufe der Jahre verfolgte er, neben seiner Ausbildung zum Erzieher, das Musikmachen als Hobby. Er nahm Gesangsunterricht u.a. bei der bekannten deutschen Jazzsängerin Esther Kaiser und wirkte fünf Jahre bei dem Ensemble "Wir Kinder vom Kleistpark" sowohl im Studio, als auch auf der Bühne mit. In einer über zweijährigen Zusammenarbeit mit dem Pianisten Christoph Oleschinksi trat er mit einem großen Repertoire an bekannten Jazzstandards auf.

Im Jahr 2013 führte die erste musikalischen Begegnung mit dem Produzenten Dominique Oliver zu einer intensiven Zusammenarbeit. Bereits ein Jahr später war BELIEVE mit den ersten Tracks in konkreter Planung, mit dem Gedanken daraus die erste offizielle Veröffentlichung unter dem eigens neu gegründeten Label - Berlinbeatz - zu verwirklichen. Als Mitbegründer und Namesgeber von Berlinbeatz agiert Michael Kanz als Arrangeur, Vocal Coach, Künstlerberater und - betreuer und "Mädchen für Alles" rund ums Label.

Michael Kanz was born in 1975 the former Berlin - West where he also grew up. Music has always been and still is an important companion on his path. He belongs to the group of his generation which was allowed to use the record player of his parents in order to listen to his children records. Obviously he also put on his dad's records and already by then, at the age of four, he danced through the living room listening to The Beatles, Led Zepplin, Stevie Wonder, Elvis Presley, David Bowie, Pink Floyd and many more.

His youth was marked musically by the charts and numerous independent artists. In the course of the years and in addition to his education in order to become an elementary school teacher, he continued to make music as a hobby. He took singing lessons with, among others, the well-known German jazz singer Esther Kaiser and served five years in the ensemble of "Wir Kinder vom Kleistpark", both, in the studio, and on the stage. For over two years he collaborated with pianist Christoph Oleschinksi and appeared with a big repertoire of famous jazz standards.

In 2013, his first musical connection with producer Dominique Oliver led to an intense collaboration. Only one year later, BELIEVE and its first tracks were on the way with the goal of making it their first official publication under newly founded label - Berlinbeatz-. As a co-founder and name giver of Berlinbeatz Michael Kanz operates as an arranger, vocal coach, artist's adviser and - responsible person and "jack of all trades" all around the label.
